This is far above the average for advanced economies, which is forecast at just two-tenths of a percent. The IMF said Korea is expected to see a small v-shaped recovery from the pandemic-hit recession, which is a smaller fluctuation than the big V shaped recovery expected for advanced economies.

S Korea reports 735 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, highest in 105 days

South Korea s daily COVID-19 cases have risen to the highest level in 105 days. The country reported 735 new infections on Thursday, staying above the 700-mark for two days in a row. It s the most cases since January 7th, when the country saw 869 cases. Of the new cases, 715 were local, and 20 were from overseas. Seoul and Gyeonggi-do Province both saw more than 200 cases each, with cluster infections popping up at work places, churches and schools. Two more deaths were reported, bringing the death toll to 1,808. Health authorities are keeping a close watch on COVID-19 variants from overseas. From Thursday, those arriving from South Africa or Tanzania are required to quarantine at state-designated facilities for two weeks.
