Letter: response to Solar development is a tale of two cities

In response to Rick Karlin’s article “Solar development is a tale of two cities,” I suggest that there’s much more to opposing grid-scale solar projects than NIMBYism or poverty.
Copake’s issues may seem unique in the lovely Hudson Valley. They’re not. Across the river in Coxsackie (Greene County), 10 percent of town land mostly in a 5,000-acre area has been secured by solar developers, including Hecate Energy. Hecate proposed a 50 megawatt plant here in February 2018, and both the town and residents have been fighting it through the entire Article 10 process, which strips towns of their ability to refuse grid-scale projects.
