Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester has nominated 28 Delaware students for admission to United States service academies for the Class of 2025. Each year, members of the U.S. Congress are charged with nominating top candidates for attendance at four service academies: the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.; the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.; the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y. Nominees must then be accepted by the academies to gain admittance.
“As we continue to face unprecedented times, I am filled with pride seeing young Delawareans answering the call to serve our nation in our military,” said Blunt Rochester. “Serving in our nation’s armed forces requires bravery and selfless dedication to their fellow citizens. Ron DeSantis updated residents Monday on the state’s effort to vaccinate every senior in Florida.DeSantis said nearly 30% of Florida seniors have received their first vaccine shot, amounting to about 1.25 million individuals. He said the state will be setting aside 1,500 doses this week for seniors who are homebound.“Not everyone is in a position and not everyone has the same level of support … We’re trying to prevent people from falling through the cracks,” the governor said.DeSantis said the federal government has increased Florida’s vaccine supply by 40,000 for the coming weeks, allowing them more flexibility when it comes to drive-through vaccination sites in senior living communities like The Villages.“As the weather gets a little better, we’ll have the opportunity to see golf carts out there,” he said.DeSantis also showed confidence in the Johnson & Johnson vaccine despite it being less effective than it

Korean delegation donates 5,000 COVID masks to Miami, honors local war hero Howard Cohen, The Miami Herald
Jan. 23 Korean Consul General Young-jun Kim and members of his staff paid honor to the City of Miami and one of its war heroes by donating 5,000 COVID-19 masks to the city, along with an Ambassador for Peace medal and 1,000 additional masks to Burley Smith, who exhibited valor and kindness in that conflict.
Miami Mayor Francis Suarez accepted the honor at Miami s City Hall in Coconut Grove on Friday afternoon on behalf of the city and presented Miami s flag to Kim and the people of Geoje in the Republic of Korea.
