Albuquerque-based OE Solar built New Mexico’s only existing community solar project to date at Picuris Pueblo north of Santa Fe. The 1 megawatt array, which came online in 2018, now provides solar-generated electricity to about 600 homes in the Pensaco Valley. The pueblo financed the $2.2 million project with assistance from the U.S. Department of Energy, and about $500,000 in front-end funding from OE Solar to get development going while the tribal government sought commercial loans, said OE founder and CEO Adam Harper.
