Atif Zaman denied bail as complainant alleges she is receiving death threats

A sessions court on Saturday dismissed a bail application filed by Atif Zaman in the DHA double murder case on the grounds that apparently there were sufficient evidences available against him.
The additional district and sessions judge of South IV at the judicial complex inside the Central Prison pronounced his verdict after listening to the arguments from the prosecution and the defence.
The judge observed that in the light of the arguments submitted by the prosecution and the complainant, it appeared that prime facie sufficient incriminating evidences were available against the accused; therefore, he was not entitled to bail.

KARACHI: A sessions court on Saturday dismissed a bail application filed by Adil Zaman, the main suspect in a case pertaining to murder of TV anchorperson Mureed Abbas and another individual over shady investments worth billions of rupees.
Police had caught and booked Atif Zaman and his brother, Adil Zaman, for allegedly killing his two business partners Mureed Abbas and Khizar Hayat in the Khayaban-i-Bukhari area of Defence on the night of July 9, 2019.
Additional District and Sessions Judge (South) Faraz Ahmed Chandio on Saturday pronounced his verdict, which was earlier reserved, on the bail applications of Atif Zaman in the cases pertaining to the double murder using a licensed weapon.

MULTAN: A man accused of blasphemy was injured after the brother of the complainant allegedly opened fire on him while he was going to attend the hearing of the case lodged against him.
As per police, the man, a resident of Chah Loharanwala in Mauza Jhok Lashkarpur, was going to attend the hearing of a blasphemy case lodged against him with the Makhdoom Rasheed police.
The first information report (FIR) had been lodged under Section 295-B on Oct 24, 2019 in which the complainant alleged that he was informed by one Allah Bakhsh that the man had desecrated the holy Quran. The suspect, who was arrested by the Makhdoom Rasheed police, was later released on bail.
