A Moose Jaw educational assistant who contracted COVID-19 died this week, according to the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE).
CUPE reported in a news release that the educational assistant, a member of the union, had worked at King George School. The union said it was “deeply saddened.”

Though the release did not explicitly state that the worker died after testing positive for COVID-19, a CUPE spokesperson later confirmed that was the case. CUPE president Judy Henley explained that the educational assistant was a mother of two children. She tested positive for COVID-19 on March 31, was admitted to hospital on April 5 and died on April 21, according to Henley.
