ICMSA has launched the first ‘interactive’ monthly milk price comparison tool that will allow dairy farmers to input their individual milk volumes, constituents and quality results and see – at the touch of a button – what they would have been paid for the same supply by every other milk processor in Ireland.
The facility, available to all on the www.icmsa.ie website, will allow a degree of transparency and comparison on an individual basis and it is completely unique having undergone extensive preparation and testing. The system will be live as and from today and, for the first time, farmers around the country will be able to see exactly what other processors would have paid them for their milk on a monthly or yearly basis.

IFA Sheep Chairman Sean Dennehy said the ‘get tough’ policy by the Scottish authorities on dog attacks is in stark contrast to the approach in this country.
Scotland has passed legislation that means dog owners can now be fined up to £5,000 or jailed for six months.
“This is the kind of deterrent that’s needed if we want to get serious about this issue. Unfortunately, there has been an abject failure by our authorities to put appropriate sanctions in place to deal with the irresponsible and reckless behaviour of some dog owners,” he said.

Stress is normal and part and parcel of our daily lives. In fact, a certain amount of stress is a positive thing – it can help to make us more focused and more productive in our work and in caring for our families.
Major life events such as the death of a loved one, divorce and marital separation have been identified as highly likely to result in stress. Concern over financial issues also rates quite highly in terms of stress. At the lower end of the scale might be attending to paperwork or handling cattle at the mart! A combination of major life events on top of everyday stresses within a short period of time will significantly increase the risk of stress symptoms.
