Casper City Council Grapples With Need for New Police Station
Outgrown.
Impractical.
A memo from Chief Keith McPheeters and Capt. Shane Chaney to City Manager Carter put it this way: Currently, storage closets and janitorial spaces have been converted into office spaces. Offices meant to hold one workspace now have three people juggling to use the limited space.
The Casper City Council at its work session Tuesday reviewed options about the police department housed in the mid-1970s-era Hall of Justice, 201 S. David St., which is shared with the Natrona County Sheriff s Office and the District Attorney s Office.
McPheeters presented the concerns to the council, saying the police department has never had a home of its own, and that affected its ability to provide public safety.

CASPER, Wyo. The Ford Wyoming Center (previously the Casper Events Center) are preparing to host spring high school sports state tournaments a year after the COVID pandemic first arrived in Wyoming.
The cancellation of high school basketball tournaments foreshadowed cancellations of a variety of concerts and other events which were scheduled to be held at the Events Center throughout 2020.
With the Ford Wyoming Center preparing to host state tournaments this spring, Spectra Venue Management is also looking to begin restoring employee salaries.

CASPER, Wyo Seasoned yogis and newcomers alike are invited to check out health and wellness vendors and tap into the collective energy of a socially-distanced group yoga class Saturday at the newly-branded Ford Wyoming Center (formerly the Casper Events Center.)
Branded “Get Centered at the Center,” the event will feature a gentle, all-levels “Mindful Movements” class led by Casper instructor Mallory Pollock at 9:00 am .
The extra space on the Events Center floor will allow for a large amount of yogis to be able to practice together while maintaining distancing guidelines, said Spectra Venue Management.

Masks will be required with a “Mask to Mat Policy:”
Having stood for four decades overlooking the city and valley, the Casper Events Center was built tough to withstand the wind, the winters and some very high decibel levels.
Now, it s Ford tough, too, with its official renaming as the Ford Wyoming Center with a low-key ribbon-cutting ceremony and speeches by city officials, the Center s management company and a Ford dealers at a news conference on Thursday.
This marks a major economic boost for the Events Center, which has lost money yearly since its construction in 1982.
The city has subsidized the 28,000-square-foot venue with the understanding that events such as the College National Finals Rodeo will bring thousands to people to the city and they in turn will spend money on food, lodging and other goods and services.
