Hot car bill passes after Gaston County fatality
A bill that would require car manufacturers to install technology that helps prevent children and pets from being left in hot cars has been approved by the U.S. House of Representatives, less than a week after a child died in Gaston County.
The House passed the Hot Cars Act of 2021 which would require a system to be installed in cars to alert parents or bystanders if a child or pet is left unattended in a car.
Emergency workers know that with summertime weather, temperatures rise along with the danger of a child being left in a hot car.
