Actress and TV movie producer Dawn Wells, who became internationally famous as the stranded girl-next-door on the mid-1960s TV sitcom
Gilligan s Island, died Wednesday of complications related to the coronavirus. She was 82 years old. Wells publicist, B. Harlan Boll, announced her death on social media.
Wells was a native of Reno, Nev., and started out as a beauty queen. In 1959, as Miss Nevada, she competed in the Miss America pageant. It was her ticket into show business; soon after, she had minor roles in such shows as

DreamWorks developing animated superhero movie Dog Man

Animaniacs and
Pinky and the Brain writer Peter Hastings is set to direct the movie, which follows “the madcap adventures of Dog Man, a lovable canine superhero, and his friends Li’l Petey, a curious kitten who embodies love, optimism and hope, and 80-HD, a robot who expresses himself best through his art.”
“As his readers all over the world know, Dav Pilkey is truly one of the most creative and talented storytellers of his generation,” said DreamWorks’ Kristin Lowe. “And Peter Hastings is just the right person to bring this iconic character to the big screen and the legions of fans who are all eagerly awaiting the adaptation.”
An adaptation of Dav Pilkey’s
Dog Man is in the works at Dreamworks Animation. The studio recently optioned the rights to the monstrously popular graphic novel series for kids, which Pilkey writes and illustrates.
