ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly and the PMLN President Shehbaz Sharif made a formal invitation to Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Awami National Party (ANP) to re-join the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) at dinner hosted by him for senior leaders of the opposition here on Monday.
The sources said that leadership of two opposition parties present at the dinner sought time to re-join the PDM after holding consultations within their parties.

LAHORE: The Opposition leaders have asked the government to give more clarifications over a US official’s statement that Pakistan would continue to provide air and ground access for Afghanistan operations and rumours that the country would give a military base to the US.
The demand came after the Foreign Office vehemently rejected speculations about the presence of a US military or airbase inside Pakistan, saying such baseless and irresponsible speculations must be avoided.
Reacting to the FO clarification, Senior PML-N and former federal minister Khawaja Saad Rafique said that the FO s explanation of the US military base is unsatisfactory.

ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office spokesperson Monday vehemently rejected speculations about the presence of a US military or airbase inside Pakistan, saying such baseless and irresponsible speculations must be avoided.
Responding to media queries, the spokesperson in a press release said, “There was no US military or airbase in Pakistan, nor was any such proposal envisaged. Any speculation on this account was baseless and irresponsible and should be avoided”.

The opposition parties on Monday agreed on a joint struggle against the government in the budget session of parliament and decided to give the Centre a tough time.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shehbaz Sharif hosted a dinner in honour of the parliamentary leaders at his residence.
The dinner was attended by Pakistan Peoples Party’s Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Yousuf Raza Gillani, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam’s Ghafoor Haideri, Maulana Saad, Maulana Ataur Rehman and Shahida Akhtar, National Party’s Tahir Bizenjo, Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal’s Asad Mahmood, Awami National Party’s Mir Haider Hoti, PML-N’s Ahsan Iqbal and Khawaja Saad Rafique as well as other important leaders.
