Police & Fire: Pizza delivery driver robbed
ARMED ROBBERY: Calhoun County Sheriff Department deputies are looking for at least two young men accused of robbing a pizza delivery driver in Springfield on Sunday. Deputies reported the robbery at 10:07 p.m. in the 800 block of Tecumseh Road about two blocks west of Dickman Road. The driver had just made a delivery and was pulling out of an apartment complex parking lot and said he stopped when a young man stepped into the roadway in front of his car and a second man opened the passenger door of the driver s vehicle and pointed a handgun at him. The robber demanded money and took the driver s car keys before both men fled north from the scene with two or three others. Deputies said the robbers obtained a small amount of cash and dropped the driver s keys inside the car. DRUNKEN DRIVING: A Kalamazoo woman, 38, was arrested on a drunken driving charge after asking a Battle Creek police officer for directions. The officer was stopped at 6:53 p.m. Friday at a red light on West Michigan Avenue at Kendall Street. He said a car stopped behind the patrol car and a woman approached and said she needed help getting to Kenilworth Avenue. The officer said it wasn t in Battle Creek and the woman said she believed she was in Kalamazoo. The officer said he could smell alcohol on her breath and when he asked her if she had been drinking she replied, yes, that s part of the problem. She later told officers she knew she was drunk but was trying to reach family members. An alcohol breath test showed her blood/alcohol level at 0.14 percent with 0.08 the legal limit for driving. She told the officers on a scale of zero to 10, with 10 being the most intoxicated she had ever been, how drunk was she, she replied she was at a seven. She was taken to the Calhoun County jai

CALHOUN COUNTY, MI – Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a Battle Creek teen who allegedly shot a woman in the leg.
The shooting was reported at 11:42 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, on North 11th Street in the City of Springfield near Battle Creek.
The victim, a 26-year-old woman, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police believe that the shooting was in retaliation for an earlier assault that night in Battle Creek. Police say a 17-year-old male is suspected in the shooting.
WOMAN SHOT: A 26-year-old Springfield woman was taken to Bronson Battle Creek with gunshot wounds to the upper portion of both legs after a shooting at 11:42 p.m. Wednesday in the first block of North 11th Street, in Springfield. Calhoun County Sheriff Department deputies believe she was shot by a 16-year-old Battle Creek boy as part of an ongoing dispute between several people. Deputies were called at 8:15 p.m. to the house where the victim lives after four young women entered the house looking for an 18-year-old woman who lives there, but was not at home. Deputies said the shooting victim was shot near the home. The shooting is believed to connected to the earlier home invasion and to an assault in Battle Creek. Deputies are seeking a warrant for the 16-year-old suspect in the shooting and for four females, 24, two 17 and one 16, for the home invasion.
