MAN CAUGHT: An 18-year-old man was caught and taken to the Calhoun County jail after driving recklessly Sunday. Calhoun County Sheriff Department deputies said they saw a car about 9:10 p.m. on Morgan Road near North Avenue in Pennfield Township driving recklessly and nearly striking other vehicles at the intersection. When the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle the driver fled. At one point the fleeing car went off the roadway and into a ditch but drove back on the roadway and continued. The vehicle then turned south on North Washington Avenue and the deputy ended the pursuit because the vehicle was speeding through a residential area. Deputies later found the car had overturned in a yard on North Washington Avenue near Ardmoor Drive in Bedford Township but the driver had fled on foot. Deputies, using a police dog, attempted to find the driver and received information that he was hiding in a nearby home. The man was found and taken to Bronson Battle Creek for treatment of minor in
