Galway Bay fm newsroom – The manager of Galway University Hospitals has urged the public to only attend UHG and Merlin Park for essential reasons, as work continues to recover from the HSE cyber attack.
Chris Kane has warned that both hospitals are still dealing with the fallout from the attack, which was carried out by a group of eastern European hackers last week.
It comes as the Saolta Hospital Group has advised that disruption to services at UHG, Merlin Park and Portiuncula is expected to continue for the rest of this week.
Most staff have no access to patients’ electronic files, and are relying on paper records to see urgent cases.

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A resident of the Tuam estate where a viable explosive device was discovered earlier this week has described conditions in the area as “absolute hell”.
Speaking to Keith Finnegan on Galway Talks, she wished to remain anonymous but confirmed she’s been living at Cuirt na Cora for several years.
She said there is constant anti-social behavior at all hours of the day and Gardaí are regularly called out to the estate.
It comes as an explosive device was discovered on Wednesday morning – prompting the evacuation of a number of homes.

A resident of Tuam housing estate where explosive device discovered says conditions are “absolute hell”! One resident joined Keith on Galway Talks this morning who has been a resident of the estate in Tuam for 4 years. She spoke about the fear she has been living in with burning cars and fighting throughout the night.
