All northbound lanes of the Calder Freeway near Malmsbury have reopened following a clean up from yesterday’s truck collision.
A 36-year-old male truck driver plunged more than 20 metres off a bridge in Malmsbury yesterday morning.
A semi-trailer was travelling north on the Calder Freeway when it veered from the road and struck a safety barrier and concrete pillar at the Spring Creek Bridge about 5.20am.
The truck rig plunged off the bridge, crushing the cabin and trapping the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle for more than two hours before being freed.
The man was airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the semi-truck and trailer was travelling north bound on the Calder Freeway in Malmsbury, central Victoria, when it veered off course at about 5.20am on Wednesday.
