Calcasieu Parish Starts New Contractor Fraud Task Force A contractor fraud response team has been formed by Calcasieu Parish to help residents who have been victims of theft or fraud. The Calcasieu Parish District Attorney s Office, the Sheriff s Office, and other agencies in SWLA are joining forces to fight and prosecute contractor fraud in our area. District Attorney Stephen Dwight wants parish residents to contact his office if they believe they have be defrauded by a contractor. He told KPLC they will answer any questions you have and assign an investigator to your case. He promised to bring fraudulent contractors to justice.

Larry Fitzgerald, 59, is accused of taking $60,000 from a Hurricane Laura/Delta victim and never fixing her house. Fitzgerald also didn t have a contractor s license in Louisiana when he was hired to do the work; that is required for him to do business here, deputies allege. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives booked Fitzgerald, of Panama City Beach, with two counts residential contractor fraud. During the investigation the victim told detectives she signed a contract with Fitzgerald in September 2020, at which time she paid him over $60,000 in order for him to repair damages to her home sustained during Hurricanes Laura and Delta. The victim stated Fitzgerald advised her she would be able to move back in her home in January, but the repairs have yet to be completed.

(KPLC) - Ex-deputy David Monceaux, 34, Lake Charles, has been found guilty on all charges; two counts of first-degree rape and three counts of sexual battery of a juvenile. Monceaux is facing life without benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence and is held without bond. “I am proud of our team for bringing justice to the victims of these horrible crimes,” Calcasieu Parish District Attorney Stephen Dwight said. “Sadly, there are predators in our parish and once they are found, we will prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.”
