Lake Charles man arrested again for contractor fraud

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff s deputies have again arrested a Lake Charles man for contractor fraud.
Ronald Dugas Jr., 44, was arrested last week for fraud. This week he was booked with residential contractor fraud, no contractor s license and exploitation of the inform.
On February 10, detectives received a complaint about Dugas.
During the investigation the victim stated in January he hired Dugas to perform construction at his residence, at which time he paid him in full for materials and labor, over $4,000. The victim further stated numerous weeks went by with no work being completed at the home. After a month and a half, Dugas performed approximately five hours of work and failed to return to complete the job. It was also learned Dugas did not deliver all the victimâs materials, which he previously paid for. Further investigation revealed Dugas
Florida man accused of contractor fraud in hurricane case

A Florida man is under arrest for alleged contractor fraud.
Larry Fitzgerald, 59, is accused of taking $60,000 from a Hurricane Laura/Delta victim and never fixing her house. Fitzgerald also didn t have a contractor s license in Louisiana when he was hired to do the work; that is required for him to do business here, deputies allege.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriffâs Office detectives booked Fitzgerald, of Panama City Beach, with two counts residential contractor fraud.
During the investigation the victim told detectives she signed a contract with Fitzgerald in September 2020, at which time she paid him over $60,000 in order for him to repair damages to her home sustained during Hurricanes Laura and Delta. The victim stated Fitzgerald advised her she would be able to move back in her home in January, but the repairs have yet to be completed.

VINTON, La. (KPLC) - Two men from Orange, TX, have been arrested for attempted second-degree murder in connection with a shooting that occurred in Vinton Monday.
According to Vinton police, Monday, April 5, at approximately 5:11 p.m., Vinton Police Department officers were dispatched to the 1400-block of Gum Cove Road for a shooting.
Police say once the officers arrived, they found the victim, a 25-year-old Sulphur man, shot in the abdomen. The victim was airlifted to a local hospital where he was last listed in stable condition.
