Governor Andy Beshear during Thursday’s media coronavirus briefing reported 3,349 news cases of COVID-19. The commonwealth had 54 deaths Thursday, the most deaths the state has seen in one day.
“By far the most people we’ve lost. I hope we don’t have another day with 54 deaths,” he said.
Thursday’s reporting now brings the state to 2,316 total COVID-19 related deaths. Beshear said increasing deaths can be followed by large increases in cases, more hospitalizations, and more deaths.
Kentucky is now at 234,021 total cases of COVID-19 and a positivity rate of 8.45%.
There are currently 1,817 Kentuckians in the hospital with COVID-19. Beshear also reported 431 people receiving intensive care treatment, and 254 on a ventilator.
