Bashir Magashi, retd, said yesterday Nigeria is currently bleeding., following the state of insecurity in the country. This came on a day bandits attacked the General Hospital in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, abducting two nurses on duty, barely 24 hours after bandits invaded Greenfield University in same Kaduna, killing a staff and and abducting 23 students.

Gunmen kill traditional ruler, 3 others in Benue

Eldest man in the community, Aho Zoola, alleged that gunmen suspected to be herders attacked the villagers at about 2:00am, shot sporadically and killed the two people. Zoola according to the report of one of Governor Samuel Ortom’s media aide, narrated that the attack on their rural abode came to them as a surprise because they never had any issues with herders. The media aide, Jimmin Geoffrey, had stated that the governor was returning from a burial in the area when he had a stop over to sympathise with the villagers who are already displaced from their homes and assured them that he would do everything possible to get security agencies to the area.

FG commits N486m to Benue health insurance scheme

The Federal Government has committed about N485 million into the Benue State Health Insurance Scheme (BNSHIS) to tackle the health challenges of vulnerable groups in the state. Also, the Benue government has fully keyed into the scheme and spent over N1 billion as counterpart fund for the construction of office accommodation and payment of staff salaries. Addressing the 23 local council chairmen, directors of local government health authorities and other critical stakeholders at a sensitisation workshop in Makurdi, the Executive Secretary of BNSHIS, Dr. Kenneth Korve, urged the participants to educate their subjects at the grassroots on the need to get registered to access benefits from the scheme.

Insecurity: I owe no one apology for speaking truth to Nigerians

By Peter Duru Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State yesterday said he has no apologies for anyone particularly those in positions of authority for speaking the truth to Nigerians. He reiterated that he would also not be intimidated into submission provided he had the backing of his people and majority of Nigerians. He pointed out that the acceptance of ranching in the business of animal husbandry by many in the country was a major breakthrough in his agitation to check the crisis and killings in parts of the country. The Governor spoke in his home town, Tse-Adorogo, Nzorov Council Ward of Guma Local Government Area, LGA, of the state during a funeral oration at the burial of his uncle, Mr. Samuel Atule who died recently.
