Judicial remand of 12 lawyers extended in Capital
ATC seeks call records of two lawyers booked in sessions court attack
ISLAMABAD:
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday extended judicial remands of 12 arrested lawyers in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) attack case. ATC Judge Raja Jawad Abbas Hassan presided over the case.
The lawyers involved in the IHC attack, including Raja Zahid, Naveed Hayat Malik, Khizer Khan, Liaquat Manzoor Kamboah, Asif Irfan, Najam Abbas Faisal Khan, Zafar Khokhar, Shoaib Gujjar, Muhammad Omar, and Asad Khan were presented before the court.
The counsel for the petitioners said that Qaiser Nawaz and Shoaib Gujjar had filed post-bail pleas in IHC and urged to wait for the high court’s decision. At this, the court directed to submit a copy of the IHC order by 1pm or else the hearing would be heard on Friday (today).

LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid has warned that no compromise will be made on the attendance of doctors in all public hospitals and the shortage of doctors will be overcome.
She stressed on the doctors to ensure quality treatment to the patients in public hospitals. No negligence will be tolerated in this regard, she added.
The minister was chairing a meeting in Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department here on Wednesday. The minister said MS concerned would be held responsible for poor hygienic conditions in public hospitals, adding there was no shortage of medicines in the government hospitals.

Protest against encroachments on highway

JHANG: Residents of Union Council Bagh and adjacent localities on Sunday staged a demonstration against encroachments on highway.
The protesters chanted slogans against the Punjab Highway Department officials for allegedly allowing the roadside encroachments, which was a major reason behind the increasing fatal accidents.
They alleged that outside the town, influential of the area had extended their business by constructing shops on both sides of the service area on the TT Singh Highway.
They pointed out that all kind of traffic had further increased on the Highway because of linking to the Motorway Toll Plaza. They said that if any fatal accident reported on the road, the case should be registered against the Highway Department authorities for their negligence and not taking action against the encroachments.
