Another area precautionary boil order has been added to a length list put in place by the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH).The agency’s website indicates an order for the entire Krooked Kreek Water Association in Boone County was added Tuesday morning following a power failure.
Four area systems were placed under boil orders on Monday morning, according to the ADH website. Big Flat Waterworks was added to the list, when the entire system was placed under the order as a result of low pressure in the system due to a low tank level, with three customers having zero pressure.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Arkansas Economic Development Commission (AEDC) Division of Rural Services has awarded grants totaling $536,401 to promote wildlife education and improve school conservation programs to 150 schools, school districts and conservation districts in 65 Arkansas counties. The local awards totaled $23,495.The grant program is funded by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) through fines collected from hunting and fishing violations. Only money collected in the county where the violation occurred may be used as grant funds for that county.
All schools in the state are eligible to participate in the program. The funding schools have received in previous years has helped create and maintain archery, fishing and competitive shooting sports programs. Schools also use the money to help improve wildlife education by purchasing educational materials, materials for the creation of indoor and outdoor habitats, lab supplies and field trips to AGFC nature and educatio

Bryan Fountain has been named the December teacher of the month by the Calico Rock High School Junior Beta Club. Fountain teachers ag mechanics and advanced mechanics, as well as ag metals and advanced metals. He also teaches animal science (regular and advanced), survey of ag and eighth grade ag sciences. He sponsors a variety of clubs and organizations on campus.
Fountain is usually the first face bus riders see when they walk into the building every morning, as he is taking temperatures of the Calico Rock students and faculty.
