The Colonial Squire Motel in Ripley will be demolished and replaced with a Loveâs Travel Stop.
Construction of a new Gateway Center at the New York state border will start in April.
At its monthly board meeting today, the County of Chautauqua Industrial Development Agency (CCIDA) Board of Directors voted unanimously in favor of providing tax incentives for Love’s Travel Stop and Country Stores, Inc. The project involves construction of a state-of-the art, 22,000 square foot travel center on a 16-acre parcel located at 6201 and 6151 Shortman Road. The travel center will include a convenience store, fueling islands, restaurant, repair center, and related services.

Residence Inn by Marriott has opened on Route 24, just west of Coastal Highway, in Rehoboth Beach.
The 104-room hotel features spacious suites with full kitchens and separate living and sleeping areas, aimed at people in town for an extended stay. Amenities include an outdoor pool, gym, meeting rooms, market and full-service bar.
Julie Hudson of Hudson Management described the Residence Inn as high-end. The overall feeling is a little more luxurious, she said.
The four-story hotel is managed by Hudson Management and owned by Colonial Hotel 2 LLC. Both outfits are run by the Hudson family of Lewes. They also own Fairfield Inn and Suites on Route 1.
Jan. 21, 1893: The Daily American, a newspaper in Nashville and with a dateline of Johnson City, reported on people found frozen to death. âThe weather here for the past two weeks has been the coldest which has ever been known in East Tennessee, it being from 22 to 31 degrees below zero. This morning Sally Grant, an old lady, was found frozen to death in the road. F.B. Abernathy, a prominent merchant of Bakersville, N.C., arrived here today, and brought news of the finding of an old man by the name of Ellis dead at that place yesterday, he being found frozen to death and his body covered with snow. Several other persons are also reported to have been frozen to death near here.â
