Join us for a Climate Justice Rally in Appleton on Saturday, April 24th! From Noon to 2 p.m., we’ll be gathering on Houdini Plaza to demand climate justice and a sustainable future! We are calling on elected officials at all levels of government to address the climate crisis with the urgency demanded by science, while creating good jobs and ensuring everyone has clean air, clean water, and a healthy environment. Our demands are as follows:– We call on Congress to pass, and President Biden to sign, comprehensive legislation that will create millions of good jobs, rapidly decrease greenhouse gas emissions such that we reach zero greenhouse gas emissions no later than 2035, and ensure everyone has clean air, clean water, and a healthy environment.– We call on Governor Evers and legislators in Madison to implement the Governor’s Task Force on Climate Change, and pursue 100% clean energy in Wisconsin by at least 2035– We call on our county boards and local common councils to c

Visualizing a climate-resilient MIT

Massachusetts Institute of Technology The Sustainability DataPool, powered by the Office of Sustainability (MITOS), gives the MIT community the opportunity to understand data on important sustainability metrics like energy, water use, emissions, and recycling rates. While most visualizations share data from past events, the newest dashboard – the MIT Climate Resiliency Dashboard (MIT certificate required to view) – looks to potential future events in the form of flooding on campus. The dashboard is an essential planning tool for ongoing work to build a climate-resilient MIT, one that fulfills its mission in the face of impacts of climate change. It’s also a tool that highlights the importance of collaboration in devising sustainability solutions.

Micro-check Dams Among Others Are Funded by Jamaica s $244 Million Climate Resiliency Budget The government and the Inter-American Development Bank are supplying the financing. Activities completed by the end of December 2020 include crop resilience/sustainability modeling activities, the Upper Rio Minho Watershed Sediment budget monitoring program, seven technical papers to endorse the National Spatial Plan s development, and the policymakers and government ministries climate change awareness program. In addition, 1,595 micro-check dams have been installed to limit the influx of flood waters in the Upper Rio Minho Drainage Region on slopes and rivers (drains). 2021-2022 The plans for the 2021/2022 financial year include the introduction of vulnerability assessments for five sectors, the development of a policy and action plan for the climate change market, and the installation of an additional 205 micro-check dams in Upper Rio Minho Watershed Area.
