In honor of Earth Day 2021 and in acknowledgment of the actions needed to combat climate change and other environmental degradations we reached out to students involved in our Environmental Justice and Sustainability Program, Environmental Club, and Climate Ambassador Program to better understand the measures we can take to support a healthy planet. As scholars of justice, we know that the negative effects of harmful environmental policies and behaviors disproportionately impact low-income communities and communities of color, but the work needed to address these issues falls on us all. All eyes will be peeled to Biden s climate summit on World Earth Day this Thursday (April 22) to which 40 of the world’s leaders, including China’s Xi Jinping and Russia’s Vladmir Putin, have been invited.
Markets are expecting major announcements to emerge from the summit after former Obama Secretary of State and now recently appointed Climate Envoy, John Kerry, said that the day would herald a change in the way in which global capital is allocated.
