SSE Enterprise Telecoms, one of the UK’s leading connectivity providers, has announced that it will provide the communications infrastructure for what will be one of Scotland’s largest offshore wind farms.
Once complete in 2022 - 2023, Seagreen offshore wind farm (Seagreen) will be capable of generating 1075 MW from its 114 North Sea turbines – enough to power 40% of all Scottish homes. A joint venture partnership between SSE Renewables and Total is investing £3 billion into the project, with onshore construction already underway and offshore construction due to get underway later in 2021.
Having been selected to spearhead the project following a competitive tender process, SSE Enterprise Telecoms will be responsible for the installation of a comprehensive Wide Area Network between the substation at Tealing, Dundee, Scotland, and the operations centre in Montrose, Scotland. The connection will provide offshore wind farm engineers based at Montrose with the vis

RWE’s European renewables business has gained further impetus with decisions taken to invest in four new onshore wind farms with a total installed capacity of 76 MW. Three of the projects are located in France, and one in Poland. The first French project is already under construction, and work will begin on the three other projects in 1Q2021. The overall investment for the four projects amounts to approximately €95 million.
The 26 MW onshore wind farm ‘Les Pierrots’ is RWE’s premiere in France. It is located in the Centre-Val de Loire region, 250 km south of Paris. The three remaining projects are the 18 MW ‘Les Hauts Bouleaux’ and the 15 MW ‘Martinpuich’ wind farm in the north of France, and the 17 MW onshore wind farm ‘Rozdrazew’, located in Poland, 80 km south-east of Poznan.

GE Renewable Energy has announced it has been selected by Leeward Renewable Energy LLC as its wind turbine technology partner in the repowering of Leeward’s 90 MW Aragonne Wind Project in Guadalupe County, New Mexico. Courtesy of Leeward Renewable Energy
When combined with the new greenfield 145 MW Aragonne Mesa Wind project, the total wind farm output will increase to 235 MW.
As a part of this effort, GE will be providing a total of 86 2.x-127 and 2.3-116 wind turbine generators (WTG) to Leeward. The Aragonne Wind repower will replace the project’s 90 existing units with new WTG technology, resulting in increased performance and reliability. The projects are anticipated to be completed in late 2021.
