The litter-picking efforts of the Callan, Coolagh, Windgap, Tullahought, Ahenny, Faugheen, Clashnasmuth and Owning community volunteers over the previous eight weeks would see the area in good stead for another long while, or so it was thought.
However just last weekend the usual wrappers, cups and cans began accumulating again and have now been joined by a tyre on the roadside in Seskin.
Further, a freshly filled black bag of rubbish was thrown into the stream at the gullet in Windgap where the dry weather and low water levels left it lying under the bridge.

The death has occurred of Martin Delaney, Kilkenny City, Kilkenny (late of Newpark Close, Kilkenny) April 19, unexpectedly, Martin, predeceased by his father John and his loving sister Angela, sadly missed by his mother Julie and her partner John, children Jamie and Kai, brother John, sisters Margaret, Louise, Melissa and their partners, nephews, especially Damian and Paul, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Nature stole the headlines last week in Windgap when news broke that the nesting wild mallard duck there had hatched fifteen ducklings.
And so it was at 8am on Thursday morning, local life stopped as the mother rounded up her brood and videos rolled as the duck train set off down the slope, located at the foot of the hill under the proposed mast on Carraig na gCapall.
Knowing the destination was the local lake, the whole community were on standby to escort the brood across the main road.
