The boy who slept under a Chanhassen bridge among scary dudes for six weeks after his mother, who struggled with mental illness, kicked him out for eating the last slice of pizza. When I speak to teachers, I tell them, These kids are in your classroom, and when they leave your classroom they don t go home, said Bob Downs, himself a retired middle-school teacher. The teachers eyes get wide.

It s an ugly morning on Twin Cities roads Monday after a coating of snow and subzero temperatures have created slippery driving conditions.
A fatal crash on Hwy. 212 has closed traffic in both directions at Kelly Road in Dahlgren Township, according to the Carver County Sheriff s Office. The State Patrol is at the scene and reconstructing the crahs as part of its investigation. Roads are also icy all over the metro plan extra time and slow down! the sheriff s office warned Monday morning.
According to a Minnesota State Patrol crash report, Ashley Ann Karjala, 22, of Hutchinson, was killed Saturday after her 2004 Cadillac Deville, traveling eastbound, collided with a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado traveling westbound on state Highway 7 near the intersection of 53rd Street near New Germany in Carver County.
314 crashes, 64 spinouts reported during icy Monday morning commute

(FOX 9) - A dusting of snow and subzero temperatures have created slippery conditions on roads in the Twin Cities metro, making for a messy Monday morning commute.
Between 5 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., the Minnesota State Patrol responded to 314 crashes and 64 vehicle spinouts. Thirty-three of the crashes involved injuries and one was fatal.
The fatal crash occurred on Highway 212 in Carver County shortly before 7 a.m., according to the Carver County Sheriff’s Office. Hwy. 212 was closed in both directions at Kelly Road in Dahlgren Township for several hours.
