Students in 2 Carlton classrooms identified as non-close COVID-19 contacts

COVID-19 detected in 5 Prince Albert area public schools

  PRINCE ALBERT The Saskatchewan Rivers Public School Division says cases of COVID-19 have been detected in five schools in the Prince Albert area. Carlton Comprehensive Public High School – Students in potentially exposed classrooms don’t have to self-isolate, only watch for symptoms. Prince Albert Collegiate Institute – Staff and students in a Grade 9 and Grade 11 classroom must self-isolate until May 31. WP Sandin Public School – Affected Grade 11 classrooms must self-isolate until June 2. The school moved to remote learning this week, which will continue. Queen Mary Public School – Staff and students in two Grade 1 classrooms must self-isolate until June 2. Canwood Public School – Staff and students in a Grade 2/3 classroom must self-isolate until May 31. Grade 7/8 students must self-isolate until June 3.

Case identified at Carlton Comprehensive

The Saskatchewan Health Authority has confirmed a new case of COVID-19 in Carlton Comprehensive Public High School. Staff and students who may have been at risk from the infected individual were all deemed non-close contacts and there will be no need for them to self-isolate and there was no evidence that the virus was passed on at the school. With this being the case, in-school learning is safe to continue, stated the Saskatchewan Rivers Public School Division in a recent media release. “The division is thankful to have such a cohesive team of administration and staff supported by our partners in health,” as stated in the release.

Opening Doors Career Fair announces bursary recipients

Students from across the Saskatchewan Rivers School Division were recognized with the bursary. “Supporting Prince Albert and area students in their post-secondary aspirations is what this event is all about,” Patricia Bibby, chairperson of the Opening Doors to Tomorrow Career & Job Fair said in a release. The fair is a collaborative effort of the Saskatchewan Health Authority, Prince Albert Community Futures, Saskatchewan Polytechnic and the Saskatchewan Rivers School Division.

COVID case at Carlton High School

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) has confirmed a case of COVID-19 at Carlton Comprehensive Public High School. The Saskatchewan Rivers Public School Division (SRPSD) said a few students in two grade 10 classrooms and associated staff will be self-isolating until a date to be determined by Health. In a media release, it said there is no evidence that the case was acquired or transmitted at school and in-person learning will safely continue for the rest of the school. The school division was informed of positive COVID-19 test results and communication is being shared with the classrooms/cohorts, the connected staff, as well as with the school community.
