Beijing [China], May 19 (ANI): China s fleet of government-subsidised ships strayed into more distant waters in search of seafood and more influence has become a common point of concern for Hawaii s commercial fishermen and the US military.
According to Civil Beat, local longliners have reported seeing growing numbers of Chinese vessels near their islands, accusing them of overfishing and intimidating tactics. What are they fishing for? I don t know. But it s an example of them being close to Hawaii and, we believe, getting closer, said Eric Kingma, executive director of the Hawaii Longline Association.

A week after a Coast Guard cutter fired 30 warning shots at several Iranian fast-attack craft in the Strait of Hormuz, President Joe Biden said the service is integral to asserting democratic values in a world increasingly threatened by autocracies.
Speaking at the Coast Guard Academy s graduation Wednesday in New London, Connecticut, Biden described the current state of global affairs as a significant inflection point in world history, and told graduates they will play a pivotal national security role, particularly overseas.

President Biden told graduating members of the Coast Guard Academy’s Class of 2021 Wednesday that, with the growing global challenges and threats facing the United States, the country needs them more than ever.
“The world is changing,” the president said. “Your mission will become even more global and even more important.”

It s a testament of the skill and military discipline [and] sense of responsibility you already embody,” Biden told the Class of 2021. Flanked by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Commandant Adm. Karl Schultz, Biden spoke to a crowd of 240 U.S. cadets, along with seven international cadets, at the academy’s campus in New London, Conn.
