A MUSEUM has celebrated an exciting new phase of its 119-year history, with the launch of a spectacular £2.2million re-development. The Whitaker Museum on Haslingden Road, Rawtenstall, will re-open to the public today. The impressive re-development was unveiled on Thursday to sponsors, staff, friends and volunteers, including representatives from The National Heritage Lottery Fund, Rossendale Borough Council and Rossendale Leisure Trust. Carl Bell, managing director of The Whitaker, said: “Thank you to everyone who has supported our journey to achieving this fantastic, beautiful and inspiring space. “With the support of The National Heritage Lottery Fund and Rossendale Borough Council, this amazing space will welcome audiences of all ages and backgrounds, bringing visual and creative arts to the people of Rossendale.
Redevelopment: The Whitaker is set to reopen later this month ONE of East Lancashire s biggest museums in set to reopen later this month after a £2.2million redevelopment. The Whitaker Museum in Rawtenstall says that the investment, including grants from the National Heritage Lottery Fund, has enabled a full refurbishment, additional exhibition space and new visitor facilities. When it re-opens its doors on Saturday July 24, having had to close during the pandemic, The Whitaker will have a new café-restaurant, event and community space, and catering kitchen to support future hospitality events. Managing director Carl Bell said: We have certainly missed welcoming visitors to The Whitaker Museum and cannot wait to unveil our fantastic new facilities and enhanced exhibition programme.

It’s the group’s first release with their new lineup featuring new lead vocalist John Corsal, who takes the place of original frontman Brett Scallions, alongside founding guitarist Carl Bell and longtime drummer Kevin Miller.
Carl left the band back in 2010. Brett folded the band last year and announced he was out. That left things wide open for Carl to restart HIS Fuel.
The new release will be called Anomoly and will be out on October 22nd.
