WWI Tommy statue put up in Aylesbury and Buckingham

A statue to remember the fallen soldiers of WWI has been put up in two Buckinghamshire towns. The memorial has been erected in Aylesbury and Buckingham respectively, after the housebuilder, Barratt David Wilson Homes, partnered with the Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI) to encourage residents to remember fallen soldiers from the First World War. In Aylesbury, the housebuilder has installed one of the RBLI’s iconic Tommy Club figures outside the Sales and Marketing Suite in its Orchard Green village at Kingsbrook, with the Buckingham statue being placed at its St Rumbold’s Fields development. Buckinghamshire Help to Buy scheme registered by local housebuilders

File photo First-time buyers in Buckinghamshire will have an opportunity to take their first steps on the property ladder next month, following the introduction of a new government-backed Help to Buy scheme. The newly launched 5% deposit scheme is now exclusive to first-time buyers and is available with new homes which are built after 1st April 2021. It has been planned with regional price caps in place which limit the price on Help to Buy homes, which in the South-East is £437,600. This means that homebuyers in and around Buckinghamshire will be able to purchase a range of new homes with the support of Help to Buy, which will run until 31st March 2023.

Zebra mussels found in San Antonio River basin

5of5 Zebra mussels are spreading like wildfire yet again, and this year, they re closer to San Antonio than ever. Lake Placid, which is 36 miles outside of San Antonio, was designated by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department as “fully infested on Tuesday, while Lake Medina was named positive for the pests. The discovery of the invasive species at Medina marks the first time the critters have been found in the San Antonio river basin, according to TPWD. The mollusk spreads when aquatic equipment, like boats, are not cleaned and dried properly before being moved and used on uninfected waters. The department said in a press release that they investigated the Medina infestation after a lake visitor sent a photo of the striped creatures near a boat ramp by Haby s Cove.
