LidlIreland has said it will start providing free boxes of sanitary pads or tampons to girls and women as part of a new programme targeting period poverty.
The major retailer announced on Monday the launch of a new coupon scheme that will enable girls and women in Ireland to access free sanitary products using the Lidl Plus app each month. From April 19th, women will be able to sign up to receive the monthly coupon which they can use from May 3rd in 168 stores nationwide, said the retailer. This latest move makes Lidl the “first major retailer in the world” to offer free period products in stores, the company has said.

TG4 All-Ireland Senior finalists Dublin and Cork have been pitted together in Division 1B of the 2021 Lidl Ladies National Football League, which is due to get underway on May 23.
Dublin defeated Cork last December to claim a fourth straight All-Ireland Senior crown – but Cork are the reigning Division 1 League champions, having won the title in 2019.
Cork and Dublin will be joined by Tipperary and Waterford in an ultra-competitive Division 1B, with Galway, Mayo, Donegal and Westmeath making up Division 1A.
Dublin and Naul football star Carla Rowe has her heart set on defending her side s TG4 All-Ireland Senior Championship this year - and feels the lure of a magical five-in-a-row could keep Mick Bohan s panel unified in another uncertain season.

Aimee Mackin is the TG4 Senior Players Player of the Year for 2020
Armagh forward Aimee Mackin has been crowned TG4 Senior Players Player of the Year for 2020.
Mackin (23) was voted best in class by her peers, with the Shane O’Neills player fending off stiff competition from Dublin duo Carla Rowe and Sinead Goldrick to claim the coveted individual award.
Mackin recovered from cruciate knee ligament damage sustained against Cork in 2019 to make a sensational impact during the 2020 Championship.
She scored 1-6 in the TG4 All-Ireland Senior Championship opener against Tyrone, before a 2-7 haul helped Armagh past Mayo and into a first semi-final appearance since 2015.
