Watch: PN ready to welcome back rehabilitated former members

The Nationalist Party is willing to work with anyone who might have left the party in recent years, leader Bernard Grech said on Sunday, insisting he would explore relationships with former members.  Grech made the remarks during an interview aired on the PN s media platforms when he was asked about whether he would be willing to work with former MP Franco Debono.  I am sending a message to everyone: there are a lot of people who left us some years ago, people yes like Franco Debono and so yes, we will explore all these possible relationships for those whose views about the party have changed, Grech said. He described Debono as a person who still had a lot to offer.

Gavin Gulia must face MP grilling before being reinstated as MTA chair

Gavin Gulia will have to be vetted by a parliamentary committee before he can be reinstated as chairman of the Malta Tourism Authority. Gulia, who was elected as an MP to replace Edward Scicluna only to resign a few minutes later last Wednesday, has said that the prime minister wants him to stay on as MTA chairman, a role he has fulfilled since 2013.  Tourism Minister Clayton Bartolo confirmed on Friday that Gulia would have to face parliamentary scrutiny before being reinstated.    “A few moments after Gulia’s resignation from parliament, I submitted his nomination as the Malta Tourism Authority’s chairman for vetting via the public appointments committee’s (PAC) chairman,” Bartolo said.

Irresponsible statements If anyone had any hope that the supposed new PN leader would offer a more moderate and modern policy than what his predecessor had done, that hope has already faded away. This was made glaringly obvious from the moment Manuel Delia, on behalf of the PN front-organisation, Repubblika, had warned Bernard Grech “not to f up… or else”. Grech has proven that he is very loyal to those who succeeded in ousting his predecessor. In fact, he is proving to be even more negative than Delia. And that is saying something! Two most recent events which prove this were, first, when Maria Deguara, spokesperson for health, stated publicly that “the (COVID-19) vaccine is no solution” for the pandemic. This was later followed by a much more dangerous and irresponsible statement by Grech.
