Save Our Seniors initiative will help homebound Texans get vaccinated

As part of the statewide initiative, Texas will deploy more than 1,100 National Guardsmen to assist communities in vaccinating homebound seniors.
AUSTIN, Texas - A new initiative is being launched by the state of Texas to help homebound seniors get vaccinated. Governor Greg Abbott announced the statewide initiative at a press conference in Corpus Christi on Thursday.
The program will launch on Monday, March 1. A key part of our mission in the fight against COVID-19 is to vaccinate seniors and those who are most at risk and senior vaccination programs like the one in Corpus Christi are crucial to accomplishing this mission, said Governor Abbott.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas â Governor Greg Abbott is scheduled to visit the city of Corpus Christi on Thursday Feb. 25 after his original visit was postponed on Feb. 13 due to the Texas winter storm.
Abbott will be at Fire Station 18 on Ayers St. where he is planned to give praise to the Corpus Christi Fire Department, Meals On Wheels of Corpus Christi, and the City of Corpus Christi on their efforts to vaccinate seniors in the community.
He is scheduled to also give an update on vaccine distribution across the state.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas â Governor Greg Abbott announced Monday that Corpus Christi s Save Our Seniors program is being implemented in 26 Texas counties.
The Texas Division of Emergency (TDEM), the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), and the Texas Military Department (TMD) are using the model developed in Corpus Christi to help more seniors get vaccinated throughout the state.
Working with local officials and organizations, they expect to give 8,000 vaccine doses in the first week of the program. The Save Our Seniors program will help us reach vulnerable homebound seniors across the state and provide them with live-saving COVID-19 vaccines, said Governor Abbott.
