Picture Google Maps SIX homes had to be evacuated after two tonnes of the highly explosive ammonium nitrate were found during a barn fire. Emergency services were called to a barn fire in the small hamlet of Gummow s Shop at around 11.43am this morning. Once there they found the barn at Tredinnick Farm was well alight with the flames fanned by high winds creating a tall plume of smoke. At first nearby residents were warned to stay indoors but after the discovery of the highly volatile chemical people living in six home nearby were ordered to evacuate.

The incident commander told ITV news that because of the volatility of the material, the high winds and smoke plume it was decided to evacuate the six homes nearby.
A little donkey in Cornwall needed some ass-istance after getting himself stuck in a ditch earlier today. The wonky donkey became quite literally bogged down after he ventured too close to the end of a field. As a result, crews from Newquay and Tolvaddon fire stations were called in to help release the beast. Firefighters work to release the donkey from the ditch The firefighters, together with a Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service flexi duty, were sent to a farm in the Mawgan area of Newquay around 4.30pm today. With the animal getting increasingly dehydrated from being in his predicament, the crews needed to work fast.
FIREFIGHTERS have been tackling a massive gorse fire just outside Redruth overnight with the whole hill on fire. Fire control received the first of 84 repeat calls at 9.30pm last night reporting a large gorse fire in the Wheal Uny area of Redruth. When they arrived they found a large fire with a 400 metre front the flames could be seen for miles around.
