Professor Christian Sorace Receives Fulbright for Research in Mongolia

Assistant Professor of Political Science Christian Sorace has been selected for a Fulbright award to spend six months in Mongolia on a research project titled “Electoral Urbanization.”
Sorace, who joined the Colorado College faculty in 2017, will research how democratic elections shape urban redevelopment projects in post-socialist Mongolia. “I will focus on the demolition and redevelopment of the

Most Catholics have probably heard of or read about St. Elizabeth Seton, the first American-born citizen to be declared a saint, as following her canonization in 1975, it was not uncommon for new or merged parishes and schools to be named in her honor.
A few paragraphs about her in various lives of the saints compilations note her journey from wealth to poverty, married to widowed, and Episcopal Church to Catholic Church. They feature her founding of the Sisters of Charity and the establishment of the nation s first free Catholic school for girls.

Before Franklin Florence, the first president of FIGHT, was Walter Cooper and the Young Turks, a small but influential cohort of Black intellectuals who found themselves rudely sidelined as Uncle Toms after the early 1960s. They in turn represented a more confrontational approach than Charles Lunsford and Van Levy, the city s first Black doctor and dentist, had employed when Rochester s Black population remained minuscule.
(The thread of generational tension goes back even further, in fact. Levy, who arrived in Rochester in 1922, later recalled: There were just some things here that had to be done in 1922 and the local people here, at that time, really had no way of approaching things. )
