Updated: 7:53 AM EST Mar 2, 2021 WXII12.com Web Staff A High Point man was sentenced on Feb. 26 to 411 months in prison for conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery, two counts of Hobbs Act robbery, brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a federal crime of violence, witness tampering and aiding and abetting in those crimes.56-year-old Charles Walker, Jr., a/k/a Supreme, was convicted on December 11, 2020, after a jury trial in New Bern. The case involved two Hobbs Act robberies at Kay Jewelers stores, one in Elizabeth City and one in Garner. The robbers were able to get away with almost $600,000 worth of jewelry.These were violent robberies as firearms were brandished during both robberies. During one of the robberies, a store employee was handcuffed behind her back and left in a backroom of the store.During the trial, the defendant took the stand and admitted during cross-examination that he is closely associated with a high-ranking blood member i

With it nearing, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is asking others to plan ahead and book their day passes and campsite reservations before Spring Break begins. According to a Friday news release, the department is already seeing the spots filling up for the spring and summer months. Parks that are already seeing a high rate of both day use and overnight reservations include Garner, Inks Lake, Pedernales Falls, Guadalupe River, Mother Neff, and Enchanted Rock state parks. However, there is still some availability, the department noted.

The department received another 500 doses Tuesday morning. Department Director of External Affairs Karen Martucci said the DOC has used all of the shots it has received and is seeking more. “We roll them out as they come in,” said Martucci.
