GOV. ERIC J. Holcomb was sworn into office during a small, private ceremony at the Indiana State Museum Monday. Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch and Attorney General Todd Rokita were also sworn into office by the Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Loretta Rush. Due to COVID-19 precautions, the event was closed to the public. HOLCOMB HAS announced he will proceed with key state investment projects initially put on hold due to the financial impact of COVID-19.
The Governor directed the State Budget Agency to work with the appropriate agencies to proceed with the approximately $65 million Next Level Trails grant program and $110 million of deferred maintenance projects. The General Assembly approved these appropriations in the current 2019-2021 state budget.

EAST LIVERPOOL The U.S. EPA will hold virtual public hearings on Jan. 12 and Jan. 14 on the proposed federal hazardous waste management permit for Heritage Thermal Services Inc., a commercial hazardous waste incinerator facility here. The public comment period, which began on Aug. 28, runs through Jan. 20.
EPA will host an online public hearing at 6 p.m. Jan. 12, and a telephone conference hearing at 6 p.m. Jan. 14. EPA will share the same information during both sessions. During the online public hearing on Jan. 12, the public will have the opportunity to ask questions and make comments in writing regarding the proposed permit. During the telephone conference hearing, the public will have the opportunity to ask questions and make comments orally. Topics related to other hazardous waste management activities at the Heritage site will not be discussed during the virtual public hearings.
