The Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh
Staff members across the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh have voted by a substantial margin to join the United Steelworkers Union (USW).
Eileen Viloria, a youth programs coordinator at the Warhol Museum who is on the museums union organising committee, said the vote was 278-75 in favour. The employees, who work at the Carnegie Museum of Art, the Andy Warhol Museum, the Carnegie Museum of Natural History and the Carnegie Science Center, will become part of a new 500-member USW unit called the United Museum Workers.
The workers include non-supervisory curators and curatorial assistants, scientists, educators, art handlers, front desk and administrative staff, gift shop workers and others.
