Vasilevskiy stops 32, Lightning top Panthers 3-1 in Game 2

SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 32 shots, Steven Stamkos and Ondrej Palat had first-period goals and the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Florida Panthers 3-1 on Tuesday night to take a 2-0 lead in their Central Division first-round playoff series.
It’s the seventh time that the Lightning have won the first two games a series, the third time doing so on the road. They’ve never lost one of those matchups, and will look to put Florida on the brink of elimination when the series shifts to Tampa on Thursday night.

Sliding up and down the lineup throughout the regular season, Marchment, who inked a one-year contract extension on April 5, registered 10 points (two goal, eight assists) in 33 games. In addition to his goal, he also had three hits, one block and one takeaway during tonight s defeat.
2. GOALIE BATTLE
Both goalies were on top of their game tonight.
At one end, Vasilevskiy turned aside 32 of 33 shots for the Lightning, including thwarting 11 of 12 shots from high-danger areas, according to NaturalStatTrick.com. At the other end, Driedger made 26 saves and didn t allow a single goal to sneak by over the final 40 minutes of regulation.

Steven Stamkos, Ondrej Palat & Yanni Gourde each scored and Andrei Vasilevskiy made 32 saves as the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Florida Panthers 3-1 on Tuesday night at the BB&T Center in Sunrise to take a 2-0 series lead in their best-of-seven First Round matchup.
The Lightning got on the board first at the 4:52 mark of the opening period after a Stamkos pass went off of former Tampa Bay defenseman Anton Stralman and in to put the visitors up 1-0.
Tampa Bay doubled their lead on a fantastic effort from their top line.
Kucherov gloved it down and quickly fed it to a streaking Point coming down the left wing. Point then made a slick move around .. and rang a shot off the far post. Palat picked up the loose puck and fired it past Panthers netminder Chris Driedger to make it 2-0 at 14:57 of the first.
