Date Time Cardinia Shire pays tribute after passing of Councillor Ray Brown Cardinia Shire Council has paid tribute to Councillor Ray Brown who passed away on Friday 16 April, after a prolonged illness. Cr Ray Brown has served as a councillor for Cardinia Shire Council since 2016, representing the Port Ward from 2016 to 2000 alongside Councillor Graeme Moore, and representing Western Port Ward since October 2020. Cardinia Shire Council Mayor Councillor Brett Owen said Ray would be remembered for his significant contributions to the community both through Council and as a volunteer. “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Cr Ray Brown. All of us at Cardinia Shire Council would like to extend our sincere condolences to his wife Ellen, family, friends and wider community that knew and cherished Ray.

Cardinia Shire Council s new Disability Action Plan

Cardinia Shire Council is currently seeking community feedback for the new Disability Action Plan. The new Disability Action Plan will set out what Council will do to make our workplace, services, programs and community more accessible to people with disability. Cardinia Shire Council Mayor Councillor Brett Owen is encouraging the community to take part in the survey to enable the Council to create a strong and considered disability action plan. “To create a strong disability action plan, we need people who live, work, study and visit Cardinia Shire to tell us what Council can do to support our people with disability creating an accessible and inclusive community.”

Expressions of interest now open: Arts and Culture Reference Group 13 April

Expressions of interest are now open for Cardinia Shire’s Arts and Culture Reference Group. The group helps Council to identify community needs and priorities in relation to local arts and culture.  Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Brett Owen encouraged residents to apply and help contribute to the development of a strong profile for the arts in Cardinia Shire. “Arts and Culture Reference Group community representatives play an important role in informing Council of the artistic and cultural needs of the community and contributing to Council’s arts and cultural programs and services. “The group also provides informed local community input into the delivery of Council’s Arts and Culture Policy, Action Plan, Public Art Policy and Arts and Cultural Facilities Feasibility Study,” Cr Owen said.
