In convicing fashion, Cardinal Gibbons took down Providence in straight sets to win the 4A volleyball state championship on Saturday, the first volleyball title for the Crusaders since 2015.
Cardinal Gibbons still playing for volleyball state title after school moves to virtual learning

Raleigh, N.C. Cardinal Gibbons High School announced on Thursday evening that it was moving to a fully virtual learning platform for two weeks at the recommendation of the Wake County Department of Health.
According to a letter sent to Cardinal Gibbons families, three additional cases of COVID-19 have been identified at the school two students and one staff member. There has been transmission between members of the Cardinal Gibbons community and another school in the Diocses.
Providence shocks Green Hope in four sets, ends Falcons run of consecutive state titles

Cary, N.C. Green Hope s run of consecutive 4A volleyball state championships will end at four.
For the first time since 2015, the Falcons dropped a playoff game. Providence made the trip from Charlotte and beat Green Hope in the 4A West regional championship in four sets, 23-25, 30-28, 25-18, 25-18.
Even in the first set, which the Panthers lost, Providence led most of the match.
Green Hope jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but Providence eventually took a 6-5 lead. From that point, Green Hope didn t lead again until it took an 18-17 lead late in the set. Providence managed to tie the set twice after that, but never retook the lead as Green Hope won the set 25-23.
