Barry Town United and TNS elevated to Welsh Women s top tier

Swansea University Lowri Roberts, FAW’s Head of Women’s Football, told faw.cymru: “It’s been inspiring to see the level of work clubs have put into their application. We’ve seen a real shift in mindset from the clubs in how they are developing elite environments for players and how they are building for a sustainable future. “Through implementing an open application process for entry into the new leagues, a club’s place was not solely down to sporting merit but also robust club structures. It has made clubs review their entire structure, playing pathways and the provision they provide players. As a result, all clubs will be collectively striving to continuously improve standards in a competitive environment.”

Scrum-half Jess delighted to receive her first senior Wales cap

Scrum-half Jessica Roberts JESS Roberts, a former pupil at Amman Valley Comprehensive School, said she was delighted to win her first senior cap for Wales at the weekend. The Sale Sharks scrum-half made her Test debut when Warren Abrahams’ side faced France in Vannes on Saturday night in the first round of the 2021 Women’s Six Nations. Roberts said that being named in the starting line-up for the first game - alongside another former Amman Valley pupil in Hannah Jones - was a huge honour. “I don’t want to change my game too much, and want to play like I have done all season, said Roberts on her inclusion in the national squad.
