Gardaí have carried out a major drugs bust in the North East.
Following searches in counties Louth and Monaghan today, Gardaí seized 1.1 million euro worth of cannabis herb, a firearm, ammunition and €100,000 in cash, which is believed to be the proceeds of crime.
A 29-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in drug trafficking and are being held for questioning at Castleblayney Garda Station.
The operation targeting organised crime in the two counties was carried out at approximately 12 noon today by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau. Officers were backed up by the Garda Dog Unit.
