Gardaí carried out searches for the drug in Monaghan and Louth yesterday afternoon.
Cannabis with an estimated value of €1.1 million was seized as part of a garda operation in the north east yesterday.
The searches were conducted in Monaghan and Louth.
Gardaí also seized a firearm and €100,000 in cash, which is suspected to be gained criminally.
They have arrested a 29-year-old man and 26-year-old woman on suspicion of drug trafficking.
The pair are being held at Carrickmacross Garda Station in Monaghan.
Gardaí from GNDOCB supported by the Garda Dog Unit have seized approximately €1,120,000 of cannabis during searches in Monaghan & Louth earlier today.
A haulier and his girlfriend have been arrested as part of a multi-million euro drugs and cash seizure targeting a major crime gang based in the north-east.
Detectives also recovered a firearm and ammunition during a series of raids in two border counties over the weekend.
Members of the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) carried out a number of searches in Monaghan and Louth at around 12pm on Saturday.
During the operation cannabis herb with an estimated street value of over €1.1 million was recovered along with €100,000 in cash.
Gardaí believe the money is the proceeds of crime and the profits of a large drug dealing network based in the north-east of the country.

GARDAÍ HAVE SEIZED over €1.1 million of suspected cannabis as part of an investigation into organised crime.
The Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and the Garda Dog Unit carried out searches in Monaghan and Louth this afternoon that led to the seizure of €1,120,000 of cannabis.
Gardaí seized a firearm, communication and €100,000 in cash believed to be the proceeds of crime.
A man, 29, and a woman, 26, were arrested on suspicion of involvement in drug trafficking under section 15 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
