Man (70s) pronounced dead following Cork city house fire A man aged in his 70s has been pronounced dead following a serious house fire on the southside of Cork city this morning. Breda Graham A man aged in his 70s has been pronounced dead following a serious house fire on the southside of Cork city this morning. Emergency services responded to the house fire at Connolly Park in Ballyphehane at 8.20am. Gardaí and two units of Cork City Fire Brigade were in attendance. The man, aged in his 70s, was found inside the house and was brought to Cork University Hospital (CUH) where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Image source: Cllr Tony Fitzgerald Twitter Amy Nolan RESIDENTS at a housing estate on the northside of Cork City were advised to remain at the front of their properties today after gusts knocked debris from a building site behind their houses into their back gardens. The incident occurred at a residential development under construction at the Croppy Boy in the Knocknacullen area. Four units from Cork City Fire Brigade were among those who attended the scene.

Source: Cork City Fire Brigade FIREFIGHTERS IN CORK have brought “major fire” on the north side of the city under control, after people were advised to avoid the area last night. The fire happened in Churchfield, off John F Connolly Road, and Cork City Fire Brigade battled the fire into the early hours of this morning.  Firefighters are using foam in an attempt to extinguish the fire. People in the area are advised to keep windows and doors closed.
