Sen. John Hoeven, R- N.D., called the ADM soybean crushing plant planned for Spiritwood a four-for-one project combining North Dakota s agriculture and energy industries, during a presentation to Stutsman County leaders Thursday.
The project has a preliminary cost estimate of $350 million and will be constructed at the current location of the now vacant Cargill Malt plant. The long-awaited announcement for a soybean crushing plant became a reality on Monday. ADM and Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D., announced that the plant will locate in the former Cargill Malt plant near the Spiritwood Energy Park Association industrial park. Congratulations to those officials who persevered to make this project happen.
The $350 million plant will add 70 permanent jobs to the area and is expected to process 150,000 bushels of soybeans a day, according to a news release on the project. The plant is expected to open prior to the soybean harvest in 2023.
