How to deal with rising destination fees when buying a car

If you ve ever examined a car s window sticker, there s usually something added onto the vehicle s final MSRP called a destination and delivery fee. And it looks like those fees are increasing fast, according to a new Consumer Reports investigation. After researching industry data from ChromeData, Consumer Reports found that destination fees jumped from an average of $839 in 2011 to $1,244 in 2020, the outlet s Mike Monticello wrote. That s more than 2.5 times the rate of inflation, the story said.

Tesla reliability issues drag down its scores in car-brand rankings

Two major rankings of the best car brands came out on Thursday.  In Consumer Reports 2021 ranking, Tesla slid five spots to No. 16 due to reliability issues.  JD Power s 2021 Vehicle Dependability Study put Tesla near the bottom of the pack.  Tesla received poor rankings in Consumer Reports Brand Report Card and JD Power s US Vehicle Dependability Study, two major annual reports on the best car brands that were released on Thursday.  In Consumer Reports 2021 study, Tesla dropped five spots to 16th place due to reliability problems with the Model S, Model Y, and Model X. The nonprofit research organization noted that Teslas get high scores in owner satisfaction and its road tests, but only the Model 3 received a high enough overall score to be recommended.
