Car Catches Fire as Driver Uses Hand Sanitizer While Smoking – NBC4 Washington

The driver used hand sanitizer while smoking a cigarette, which a Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman said is a bad combination in an unventilated area like a car.  Montgomery County Fire and Rescue treated and transported one adult with minor burns and non-life-threatening injuries.

Pete Piringer, spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services, tweeted that an adult was treated for minor burns and was taken to the hospital. The adult’s injuries were non-life-threatening, according to Piringer. The cause of the fire was a combination of the driver using hand sanitizer and smoking a cigarette. Piringer tweeted that this is a bad combination in an unventilated area such as a car.

Close call as car bursts into flames in Glenden

Premium Content Subscriber only A quiet residential street in a sleepy Central Queensland mining town was abuzz with activity on Wednesday night after a car caught on fire near houses. A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said firefighters found a car alight in a carport next to a house. She said there was no one in the car at the time and the fire was extinguished at 6.45pm. Paramedics remained on standby and there were no injuries reported. The fire crew made the area safe and left the car with the owner. The cause of the blaze has not been determined, but it is not being treated as suspicious.
