HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - The Alabama High School Athletic Association Central Board of Control approved moving the upcoming 2021 AHSAA State Softball Championships to Oxfordâs Choccolocco Park, which is scheduled to be played May 18-22. The 2022 state tourney will also be held at Choccolocco Park. The move was approved at Wednesdayâs virtual Central Board meeting held at the AHSAA. Montgomeryâs Lagoon Park, which has hosted the AHSAA State Softball Championships since its inception in 1986, will host the East Central Regional Softball tournament qualifier originally set for Oxfordâs Choccolocco Park this spring

After a year off due to the virus pandemic, the SLE Rodeo officially returns March 18-20 at Garrett Coliseum and W.O. Crawford Arena. We didn t get to last year, and it was very disheartening to us, said Lauren Wilson, director of rodeo programs for the Alabama Cattlemen s Association. The fans missed it, and the contestants need it as well. So many rodeos are still canceling, and I have talked with some of the contestants that are coming and they are so thankful that we re putting on a rodeo. They have somewhere to come. That s those guy s livelihood. They do this for a living.
